FR510 Quick Install Guide

Quick install guidePDF document

A two-page 'Read First' jobsite reference (v.7) condensing the FastRack 510 install into nine illustrated steps for 5°, 6°, and 10° tilt arrays — setback layout, module placement on the integrated reference tabs, clamp torque, East-West bonding with the FR-SBJ, and grounding-lug wiring.

Read First: reference engineered plans for ballast location, count, and mechanical anchor installation as needed. The installer is responsible for verifying all information and installation compliance. Read the full installation manual before starting work.

Required Tools

  • 3/8" socket wrench
  • 3/8" calibrated torque wrench
  • 1/4", 7/16" & 1/2" sockets
  • Tape measure
  • Chalk
No impact drivers or high-speed drills — clamp hardware is hand-threaded and torqued to spec.

Layout & Module Installation

  1. Lay the pallet down on the roof if possible. Measure from the edge of the parapet and mark the required setback per the engineered plans with a chalk line, then position the first two rows of FR510-6s in alignment with the setback. Build out the array as you go to keep the roof open — do not leave unballasted buckets on the roof.
  2. Hand-thread the clamp hardware; never use impact drivers or high-speed drills.
  3. Use the integrated 3/8" (9.5 mm) reference tabs on the FR510 to ensure proper placement of modules.
  4. Seat the module against the reference tabs at the underside mounting point.
  5. Pull the FR-PC flush with the bottom flange.
  6. Install the FR-EC and FR-N bolt, torque the FR-N to 8 ft-lbs (≈ 10.8 N·m) with a 3/8" socket, then mark it with a paint pen.

Bonding & Grounding

  1. For East-West module-to-module bonding, pull the FR-SBJ onto the underside module flange of adjacent panels.
  2. Attach the FR-SGB-4 grounding lug to the underside of the module frame with a 7/16" socket torqued to 50 in-lbs (≈ 5.7 N·m).
  3. Run #6 bare copper wire (North-South) through the other side of the lug and tighten to 30 in-lbs (≈ 3.4 N·m), routing the wire under the FR510-6 frame overhang with the FR-W-CLP wire clip.
